Community Heritage & Archaeology Consultancy was established in November 2013 by myself, community and landscape archaeologist Christopher Atkinson (BA Hons), MA, with the aim of providing professional and reliable archaeological services to community organisations, as well as local and national bodies. This webpage highlights some of the services I can offer, as well as examples of projects I have been involved in since 2013.

Services

Community Archaeology

I offer a variety of educational services concerning the history and archaeology of Britain. As well as provide support and training to individuals, groups and communities interested in investigating the heritage important to them.

Landscape Surveys

Specialising in landscape archaeology, I provide surveys of upland, woodland and urban environments. Surveys can include rapid reconnaissance investigations to large scale detailed surveys utilising remote sensing techniques.

Woodland Surveys

Within landscape archaeology I have become a specialist in woodland archaeology, and have provide woodland surveys for national and local organisations ahead of woodland management or creation schemes.

Watching Briefs & Evaluation

From community excavations, to commercial watching briefs and evaluations, I'm well versed in the planning and implementation of archaeological excavations and post-excavation reporting.

Desk-based Assessments

An integral part to any archaeological investigation is a desk-based assessment. Whether for compiling evidence of landscape change, measuring heritage significance, or for impact assessments, I can support you.

QGIS & Photogrammetry Training

I am passionate about empowering people to undertake their research and learn new skills, as well as professional development. As such, I provide training resources and sessions in GIS and Photogrammetry
